Myth. Stretching before a workout prevents injury

Reaching for your toes before a workout, also known as static stretching, which we were taught to do in gym class, can actually cause injury. Save this type of stretch for after your workout. Before working out, warm up with some light cardio and then do dynamic, movement-based stretches like arm and leg swings. That adequately prepare your muscles and will provide the basis for a better workout

Exercising on an empty stomach first thing in the morning burns fat faster. The theory: If there is nothing in your stomach, your body will be forced to burn fat for energy. The reality: your body can turn to muscle for fuel, which in turn will give you less energy for your workout and could cause dehydration, hyperglycemia, and dizziness. Some experts also warn that this approach could actually slow down your metabolism. To optimize your workout, eat a light, easily digestible meal 90 minutes before exercising.
