Myth. A detox will reset your system and help you lose weight.

The problem with myths is that they often come with a hint of truth, as in this case. After all, you will see an initial weight loss when you stop eating solid foods. But, as the experts explain, a prolonged detox can actually slow down your metabolism and make it harder to maintain weight loss. In addition, you will lose muscle mass and when you inevitably regain some of the weight, you will regain it in the form of fat. As a result, your body will be less fit and less healthy than before you started the detox. Consistent and smart food choices are always the way to go for long-term fitness results.
