Nutrition: Superfoods (II)

Nutrient-dense foods or superfoods include lean protein, healthy carbohydrates, and essential fats for our health. Super foods are a rich source of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.

Antioxidants have been shown to reduce inflammation in our bodies and help us fight disease. Inflammation is said to be the main cause of many diseases. Powerful antioxidants in leafy greens and vegetables, for example, help detoxify the body by removing harmful chemicals.

Some super foods contain compounds that increase our metabolism to burn fat more efficiently. For example, red bell peppers contain a molecule called capsaicin that improves the rate at which we burn body fat.

Eating healthy foods will not only help improve our health but also allow us to finally reach our desired fitness goals.
